Peter Cklamovski, head coach of Malaysia national team has addressed the growing speculation surrounding new heritage players potentially joining the Harimau Malaya squad ahead of their crucial AFC Asian Cup Qualifier against Vietnam on 10 June.
As Malaysia’s central training camp enters Phase 3, several new faces have been called up, fueling rumours about the inclusion of foreign-based players with Malaysian roots. While optimism is high among fans, Cklamovski remained measured and focused, offering insights but steering clear of confirming any viral names circulating online.
“We are closely monitoring heritage players who are currently playing abroad, because they are also Malaysian,” said the Australian tactician.
“There is a long list of Malaysian-blooded players outside the country, but they must undergo a proper process before being eligible to represent Harimau Malaya.”
Despite public excitement, Cklamovski refused to validate any of the speculated names that have dominated social media and media reports in recent weeks.
“You’re the ones naming these players. Frankly, there are so many names in the media that I haven’t even heard of.
I respect the interest, but right now, our full focus is on preparing to face one of the toughest opponents in Asia — Vietnam.”
The highly anticipated showdown is scheduled for 9:00 PM, 10 June at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium, where Malaysia will be banking on tactical discipline, home support, and potential squad reinforcements to overcome the formidable Golden Star Warriors.
