Liga Super Malaysia 2025/26 season will kick off in dramatic fashion with a Piala Sumbangsih 2025/26 clash between reigning Super League champions Johor Darul Ta’zim and runners-up Selangor FC on August 8, 2025, at the iconic Sultan Ibrahim Stadium.
The traditional season curtain-raiser will not only determine the first piece of silverware of the new campaign but also double as the opening league match, setting the stage for what promises to be one of the most electrifying seasons in recent memory.
The FA Cup will begin in mid-August, followed by the prestigious Malaysia Cup and the MFL Challenge Cup, both slated for January 2026. The new season will span 10 months, signaling a return to a streamlined and globally-aligned football calendar, after last season’s extended 14-month transitional format.
While excitement builds across the nation, the Malaysian Football League (MFL) has yet to release the full-season fixture list, citing complex scheduling logistics tied to international tournaments.
The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) will only conduct the official draws for the ACL Elite and ACL 2 — which include both JDT and Selangor FC — on August 15, 2025, just one week after the domestic season begins.
MFL is also awaiting final confirmation from the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) on the schedule for the inaugural ASEAN Club Championship, where JDT and Selangor are also set to represent Malaysia.
