Qatar national team is still on the way to being defending champions after beating Uzbekistan national team on a penalty shoot-out, scoring 3-2 after tied in 120 minutes 1-1 in the AFC Asian Cup 2023 Quarter-Final at Al Bayt Stadium.
In the beginning game, both sides were open to attacking in this game and got more opportunities but couldn’t convert them into goals.
But in the 27th minute, Qatar attacked on the right side, and Hassan Al Haydos had a shot from a difficult angle, but Utkir Yusupov, goalkeeper Uzbekistan, missed the save and ball through to the goal; Qatar led 1-0.
In the remaining time of the first half, there was no additional score, ending the first half with Qatar leading 1-0.
In the second half, in the 59 minute, the following defender of Qatar missed a block, and Odiljon Hamrobekov kept the ball and shot in the box to the second post, Uzbekistan equaliser 1-1.

In the Semi-Final, Qatar will face Iran.
