Malaysian motorsport team JOHOR Racing (JMR) has officially launched its JMR Junior Development Program, with the unveiling of Hayden Haikal, a 20-year-old Malaysian prodigy, as the team’s first-ever junior driver. This bold move signals JMR’s commitment to nurturing homegrown talent and shaping the future of Malaysian motorsport.
Hayden, a rising star with a proven track record, was handpicked to join the prestigious development program with the goal of becoming a full-time JMR factory driver in the near future.
“I’m truly honored to be selected as the first driver in the JMR Junior Development Program,” said Hayden after signing his contract.
“To be recognized by such a respected team like JMR means a great deal to me. It inspires me to keep pushing my limits and grow as a professional racing driver.
I’m grateful for the trust the team has placed in me, and I’m proud to represent JMR as we work together to build a strong future in motorsport.”
Hayden is no stranger to the racing scene. He previously competed in the Thailand Super Series GT4 category with Team Racing Aurora, partnering with seasoned Australian driver Peter Hackett. Together, they claimed runner-up overall in GT4 in 2024 — a remarkable achievement for the young Malaysian. Hayden also dominated the Super Eco class, taking home four race victories.
