Malaysian star rider Hafizh Syahrin, representing the JDT Racing Team, made a strong start in Round 1 of the 2025 FIM Asia Road Racing Championship (ARRC) by clinching P4 in the ASB1000 category during the Free Practice sessions at the Chang International Circuit.
Under scorching track conditions with temperatures soaring between 36°C and 37°C, riders completed three Free Practice sessions on the opening day of the championship.
Hafizh, a former MotoGP rider, delivered an impressive performance by clocking his best lap at 1:36.082, finishing just 0.322 seconds behind the fastest rider of the day.
Topping the timesheets was local hero Apiwath Wongthananon from A1 Energy BMW Racing Team, who set the benchmark with a blistering 1:35.758 lap time, earning P1 in the combined times across all three sessions.
Hafizh’s P4 finish demonstrates the growing competitiveness of the JDT Racing Team, as they look to challenge the established teams in the premier class of ARRC this season.
With qualifying and Race 1 still to come, Hafizh’s pace puts him in prime position to mount a serious podium challenge when the real battles begin at Chang International Circuit.
