Hafizh Syahrin, Malaysia’s pride from the JDT Racing Team, delivered a sensational performance to claim third place (P3) in Race 1 of the ASB1000 category at the opening round of the Asia Road Racing Championship (ARRC) 2025 at the Chang International Circuit.
The race, originally scheduled for a full distance, was shortened to 10 laps after heavy rain drenched the track earlier in the day. Quick thinking and bold strategy from Hafizh proved crucial, as he made a daring call on the starting grid to switch from wet tyres to slicks after noticing the track rapidly drying.
Despite the tricky conditions, Hafizh showcased his class and experience, immediately surging to the front group and leading the race for most of the final laps. He crossed the finish line in P3, just 4.916 seconds behind the winner, clocking an impressive fastest lap time of 1:36.509 minutes.
The race was ultimately won by Nakarin Atiratphuvapat, the local hero from Honda Racing Thailand, who handled the changing conditions superbly to take the chequered flag in front of his home crowd.
For Hafizh and the JDT Racing Team, the podium finish marks an encouraging start to the new ARRC season, proving that they are serious contenders in the premier ASB1000 class.
With confidence high and momentum on their side, all eyes will now be on Hafizh as he looks to push even harder in Race 2 tomorrow, aiming for a victory to continue his and JDT Racing Team’s strong championship challenge.
