Nakhon Pathom United’s Fergus Tierney expressed satisfaction after his team secured a valuable point against Bangkok United, the second-ranked team in Thai League 1. Speaking after the match, Tierney emphasized the importance of the result.
“We are happy to get a point, especially knowing that Bangkok United is one of the top teams in the league,” he said.
Having previously played in Thai League 2, Tierney highlighted the differences between the two divisions, stating that while League 1 offers better quality, League 2 is more physical and demands a different style of play. However, he is pleased to compete at the highest level and is eager to adapt.
Nakhon Pathom’s primary focus this season is to secure their place in Thailand League 1 and avoid relegation. Tierney stressed the team’s determination, saying, “We want to fight to stay in the league and ensure we don’t go down.”
On a broader footballing perspective, Tierney praised the improvements within the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) under the leadership of TMJ and expressed his hopes of being part of their future plans.
He also took a moment to thank Malaysian fans for their continuous support, both for himself and Muhammad Khalil. “I truly appreciate the support from Malaysian fans, and I hope to see you all again at Bukit Jalil Stadium in the future,” he added
