A year ago, Faisal Halim, affectionately known as Mickey, was involved in a shocking incident that rocked the football world—he was attacked with acid in a public space.
Despite the harrowing event, Mickey’s resilience and dedication to his recovery have been nothing short of inspiring. Over the past year, he made a remarkable comeback, returning to the pitch to do what he loves most—play football.
Mickey’s talent was on full display during the most recent Liga Super Malaysia 2024/25 match, where he scored an extraordinary hat trick. His remarkable performance helped Selangor FC secure a dominant 7-0 victory against Kedah Darul Aman FC.
The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) recently announced that the new Malaysia National Team Head Coach, Peter Cklamovski, has called up Mickey to join the squad for their upcoming friendly match against Nepal at Stadium Sultan Ibrahim in Johor on March 25, 2025.
“I thank God for this opportunity. I’m beyond excited to be called up and wear the national team jersey again for the first time since the incident,” Mickey shared.
“This is a new beginning for me in football. It’s my chance to contribute to the squad, as well as an opportunity to regain my form and confidence,” he added.
Reflecting on the appointment of Coach Cklamovski, Mickey expressed that all players are eager to learn from the new tactics and strategies being introduced, which he believes will benefit both the players and the team as a whole.
