Chonburi FC, a Thai League 2 club, has officially ended its loan agreement with Fergus Tierney, the 21-year-old forward from Malaysia’s national team.
Tierney, who joined the club this season from Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT), is no longer part of the team’s plans for the second leg of the 2024/25 season.
Since arriving on loan, Tierney made 13 appearances for Chonburi, accumulating 613 minutes on the field and scoring one goal. Despite his contributions, the club decided to terminate the loan contract prematurely, signaling a change in strategy as they prepare for the second half of the season.
Tierney was not the only departure announced. Chonburi FC also terminated its contract with Charlie Clough, an English defender on loan from Port FC. This dual move indicates that the club is restructuring its squad, possibly to make room for new signings or to align with its performance objectives.
With his loan spell at Chonburi FC cut short, Tierney will likely return to Johor Darul Ta’zim. It remains to be seen whether he will reintegrate into the squad at JDT or seek opportunities elsewhere to gain more first-team experience.
