Johor Darul Ta’zim once again proved why they remain the dominant force in Malaysian football after producing a commanding performance to sweep aside Imigresen FC in the Liga Super Malaysia 2025/26 at Stadium Sultan Ibrahim, Iskandar Puteri.
Liga Super Malaysia returned this week with JDT continuing their unstoppable run, claiming a 16th consecutive victory as they brushed off an Imigresen side still recovering from their recent Malaysia Cup elimination.
A major headline was the return of Joao Figueiredo, who led the Southern Tigers’ attacking line once more after serving a five-month suspension. On the opposite end, Zarif Irfan was entrusted with goalkeeping duties for Imigresen and also captained the team.
JDT wasted little time asserting control, and the breakthrough arrived in the first half through Figueiredo. The striker unleashed a powerful close-range effort that left no chance for the Imigresen defence, giving the hosts a deserved advantage heading into the interval.
The second half turned into a one-sided showcase of JDT’s depth and attacking quality.
The floodgates opened in the 59th minute when Vinicius Milani inadvertently turned the ball into his own net. Just two minutes later, prolific striker Bergson da Silva extended the lead with a clinical finish.
Former FC Tokyo forward Marcos Guilherme then added the fourth goal in the 66th minute, before Bergson completed the rout late on to cap a perfect night for the Southern Tigers.
The match ended in a resounding 5-0 victory, underlining JDT’s relentless form and their status as title favourites once again this season.
JDT’s attention now shifts to regional action, as they travel to Vietnam to face Nam Dinh this Thursday in the Shopee Cup.
Imigresen, meanwhile, will look to regroup quickly ahead of their next assignment against Kelantan TRW in the MFL Challenge Cup.
