A new chapter in Malaysian football has officially begun after Imigresen Football Club (IFC) announced its rebranding to Star City Football Club (SCFC) ahead of the 2026/27 Liga Super Malaysia season.
The landmark decision, approved unanimously by IFC Corp’s senior management, takes effect immediately and marks the beginning of a new era for the club as it pursues a more ambitious vision on and off the pitch.
According to the club, the transformation represents far more than a change of name and crest.
The rebranding reflects Star City FC’s long-term ambition to become a more professional, progressive, and competitive football organisation while playing a greater role in the development of Malaysian football.
The club believes the new identity better represents its future aspirations while maintaining strong ties to its roots in northern Malaysia.
The name Star City FC draws its inspiration from Alor Setar, the capital city of Kedah.
The word “Star” reflects Alor Setar’s historical significance as the state’s administrative and cultural heart, while “City” symbolises a modern football club with the ambition to compete at the highest level.
Despite the new identity, the club confirmed it will continue to be based in Alor Setar, remaining a source of pride for the people of Kedah and the wider northern region.
Alongside the rebranding, Star City FC unveiled its official club motto “The Pride of the North.”
The slogan represents the club’s commitment to unity, determination, and regional pride as it embarks on its new journey.
The club also introduced a new identity for its supporters, who will now be known as “The Northern Stars.”
According to the club, the supporters remain the heartbeat of the organisation, with every chant, flag, and matchday atmosphere playing a vital role in driving the team forward.
Star City FC emphasised that the rebrand is intended to unite football supporters across Kedah and northern Malaysia under one shared identity.
The club called on fans, local communities, and Malaysian football followers to embrace the new era and help build a lasting legacy together.
Its official slogan encapsulates that vision “One Club. One North. One Legacy.”
The announcement was made by Datuk Syed Mahadi Syed Hassan, Chief Executive Officer of Star City FC, who described the rebranding as the beginning of a long-term project aimed at establishing one of Malaysia’s most respected football clubs.
With a fresh identity, renewed ambition, and a strong regional connection, Star City FC now prepares to begin its first Malaysia Super League campaign under its new name, hoping to usher in a successful era while proudly carrying the banner of northern Malaysian football.
