Malaysian rising star Hakim Danish delivered another impressive performance in the Moto3 World Championship after securing valuable points with a fighting seventh-place finish at the 2026 Monster Energy Grand Prix of Catalunya at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya on Sunday.
Representing AEON Credit – MT Helmets – MSi, the talented Malaysian youngster once again demonstrated his growing confidence and racecraft against the world’s best Moto3 riders in an action-packed Round 6 encounter.
Starting from Grid 10 following a strong qualifying performance on Saturday, Hakim wasted no time making his presence felt once the lights went out.
The Malaysian rider produced an explosive start and immediately carved his way through the field, climbing rapidly into the top five during the opening laps. His aggressive yet controlled riding allowed him to battle confidently at the front group, and at one stage, Hakim even briefly took the race lead in a stunning display of pace and determination.
Throughout the race, the front pack remained tightly contested, with constant overtakes and intense slipstream battles keeping the outcome uncertain until the very final corners.
Hakim continued to hold firm inside the leading group and looked capable of challenging for a podium finish heading into the final lap.
However, heartbreak struck in the closing moments.
While entering the final sector of the last lap, Hakim momentarily lost control through a corner and was forced slightly wide, costing him several crucial positions in the fierce sprint to the finish line.
Despite the late setback, the Malaysian talent still crossed the line in seventh position, only 0.623 seconds behind race winner Maximo Quiles of CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team, highlighting just how competitive the race had been from start to finish.
Quiles eventually secured victory with a winning time of 32:28.964 minutes after surviving a thrilling multi-rider battle in Catalunya.
For Hakim, the result continues an encouraging run of consistency in his rookie Moto3 campaign.
The seventh-place finish earns the Malaysian rider another nine championship points, bringing his overall tally to 27 points after six races this season.
More importantly, his ability to run at the front and challenge some of the category’s strongest contenders further reinforces the belief that Hakim Danish is rapidly developing into one of Malaysia’s brightest prospects in international motorcycle racing.
