Malaysian youngster Hakim Danish continued to showcase encouraging pace and growing confidence in the Moto3 World Championship after securing a place on Grid 10 for the 2026 Catalan Grand Prix following qualifying at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya on Saturday.
The AEON Credit – MT Helmets – MSi rider once again proved he belongs among the frontrunners after automatically progressing into Q2 thanks to his outstanding performance during Friday’s Practice session, where he topped the timesheets in P1.
Carrying strong momentum into qualifying, Hakim delivered another composed display against some of the best young riders in the Moto3 field.
During the crucial Q2 session, the Malaysian rider steadily improved his lap times and briefly surged into the top three during the final five minutes, raising hopes of a potential front-row challenge.
However, as the closing moments intensified with multiple riders improving their pace, Hakim eventually finished the session in 10th position with a best lap of 1:47.058 minutes, just 0.379 seconds behind pole position.
Despite narrowly missing out on the top rows, the result still represents another strong qualifying effort for the talented Malaysian, who continues to show impressive consistency in his rookie Moto3 campaign.
Starting from Grid 10 gives Hakim a realistic opportunity to fight inside the points once again, especially considering the strong race pace he demonstrated throughout the weekend in Catalunya.
Pole position for the Catalan Grand Prix was claimed by Red Bull KTM Tech3 rider Valentin Perrone after the Argentine talent produced a blistering lap of 1:46.679 minutes to top the session.
For Hakim, the focus now shifts towards Sunday’s race, where the Malaysian teenager will be aiming to convert his competitive pace into another valuable result as he continues building momentum in the 2026 Moto3 season.
