Perlis GSA FC has issued an official media statement explaining the circumstances behind their depleted lineup during a recent Liga A1 Semi-Pro 2025/26 match against Kelantan WTS FC at Sultan Muhammad IV Stadium, Kota Bharu.
Perlis GSA FC reportedly started the game with only eight players and no substitutes, already below the standard requirement for a competitive 11-a-side match.
The situation escalated further when an injury occurred just seven minutes into the match, forcing a temporary stoppage. Following medical assessment and a review by the match officials, the referee made the decision to abandon the game in the 16th minute due to an insufficient number of players remaining on the pitch.
As per competition regulations, Kelantan WTS were awarded a 3-0 victory.
The club confirmed they were only able to field eight players in the fixture—an unusual situation that quickly drew attention across Malaysian football circles.
In their official clarification, Perlis GSA FC outlined three primary factors Several key players are currently sidelined with serious injuries, Some players were unavailable due to match suspensions, Others were unable to participate due to unavoidable work commitments
The club stressed that these issues were beyond their control, leading to the inability to assemble a full squad for the match.
Despite the situation, Perlis GSA FC emphasized their respect for decisions made by match officials and the Liga A1 Semi-Pro organizers. At the same time, the club expressed determination to strengthen the squad moving forward, return with a more competitive lineup in the upcoming fixtures
