Persib Bandung of Indonesia earned a vital 2-0 away victory over Bangkok United in the AFC Champions League Two 2025/26 Group G fixture at Pathum Thani Stadium.
Bangkok United began brightly, testing Persib’s defense early with long-range efforts from Philip Maia and Kyoga Nakamura. But Persib quickly settled and looked threatening on the counter.
The breakthrough came in the 42nd minute when Marc Klok’s clever backheel released David da Silva Barros, who squared the ball across goal for Andrew Jung to tap in from close range. The Indonesian visitors went into halftime leading 1-0.
Persib thought they had doubled their advantage in the 60th minute, but the effort was ruled offside. Still, they continued to press, and the second goal arrived in the 71st minute when Barros’ shot deflected off Everton Gonçalves and flew past goalkeeper Patiwat Khammai to make it 2-0.
Bangkok United pushed hard in the final 20 minutes. Chances fell to Seiya Kunori, Živković, William Moreira, and Teerasil Dangda, but each attempt was denied by Persib goalkeeper Teja Paku Alam, who delivered a commanding performance between the posts.
Despite their late pressure, Bangkok United could not find a way through, and Persib held firm to record a famous 2-0 win in Thailand.
The result leaves Persib level on points at the top of Group G alongside Lion City Sailors, while Bangkok United face an uphill battle after back-to-back defeats.
