Johor Darul Ta’zim booked their place in the Piala FA Malaysia 2025/26 final for the fourth consecutive season after a commanding 2-0 victory over Kuching City, sealing a 4-1 aggregate win in the second-leg semi-final at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium, Iskandar Puteri.
Xisco Muñoz’s side will now wait to see whether Selangor FC or Sabah FC emerge as their opponents for the 14 December showdown at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil.
The Southern Tigers’ opener arrived in the 25th minute through a beautifully crafted sequence. Oscar Arribas floated in a lofted ball that was met by a Corbin Ong header, which then fell perfectly for Bergson da Silva. The Brazilian striker unleashed a fierce drive past Haziq Nadzli to make it 1-0 and send the home crowd roaring.
JDT confirmed their passage to Bukit Jalil in the 82nd minute. Natxo Insa slipped a clever through-ball to Samuel Castillejo, who squared it neatly for Eddy Israfilov to slot home JDT’s second of the night — a goal that killed off any faint hopes of a Kuching City comeback.
Kuching City could have been dead and buried as early as the 2nd minute if not for goalkeeper Haziq Nadzli, who produced a sharp low save to deny Heberty Fernandes’ skimming attempt.
He was called into action again in the 15th minute, diving low to stop Teto Martin after a through-pass from Corbin Ong carved open the defence.
JDT felt aggrieved in the 46th minute when Arribas thought he had doubled the lead, only for VAR to chalk the goal off due to Bergson’s foul on Scott Woods in the build-up.
The visitors came closest in the 76th minute when Joao Pedro unleashed a powerful strike in the box, but Ahmad Syihan Hazmi reacted brilliantly to block at point-blank range.
With a 4-1 aggregate triumph, the Southern Tigers march into Bukit Jalil with a clear mission — to retain the FA Cup title and continue their domestic dominance.
