Selangor FC earned their first point of the AFC Champions League Two 2025/26 campaign after holding hosts Bangkok United to a 1-1 draw in a tense Group G Matchday 5 showdown at Pathum Thani Stadium, Pathum Thani.
Bangkok United started with Patiwat Khammai guarding the posts and danger-man Muhsen Al-Ghassani leading the attacking line, while Selangor fielded Kalamullah Al-Hafiz in goal, Picha Autra orchestrating midfield, and Willian Lira spearheading the attack.
From the opening whistle, Bangkok United came out firing, launching waves of attacks through the relentless Al-Ghassani. Selangor, however, held their ground under pressure, with Kalamullah pulling off several crucial saves to deny the home side.
Despite Bangkok Angels controlling much of the first half and producing numerous dangerous attempts, Selangor’s defensive resilience kept the scoreline locked at 0-0 heading into the break.
The second half kicked off with both teams increasing the tempo. The deadlock finally broke in the 51st minute when Bangkok’s Phumichantuk pounced after Kalamullah failed to cleanly hold Al-Ghassani’s powerful strike, giving the hosts a deserved 1-0 lead.
Selangor pushed back immediately, launching counterattacks in search of an equaliser. But Patiwat Khammai responded with sharp goalkeeping of his own to frustrate the Red Giants’ efforts.
Bangkok, who dominated large stretches of the match, looked set to secure all three points. However, Selangor refused to give in and continued to press during the final minutes, even after multiple attacking substitutions.
Their persistence finally paid off deep into second-half stoppage time when Brazilian striker Chrigor Moraes fired home a crucial equaliser, stunning the home crowd and rescuing Selangor’s first point of the campaign.
