Malaysia U17 National Team continued their campaign with authority, securing a determined 1–0 victory over Hong Kong in the AFC U17 Asian Cup 2026 Qualifiers Group C at Field 3 PVF Football Academy, Hanoi.
Malaysia lined up with Aiman Khaufly guarding the posts, while captain and forward Arrayan Hakeem spearheaded the attack.
Hong Kong fielded Tang Pui Chun as their defensive anchor and relied heavily on danger man Tung Ki Lok to create chances.
The early stages saw Malaysia dominating possession and piling pressure on Hong Kong’s defence. A series of shots and dangerous entries into the box kept Tang Pui Chun busy, but the Hong Kong keeper produced several sharp saves to deny an early breakthrough.
In the 21st minute, Hong Kong nearly stunned Malaysia when right winger Ma Lok unleashed a threatening effort, but Aiman Khaufly reacted brilliantly to keep the score level.
Malaysia’s best chance of the half came in the 24th minute when Arrayan Hakeem found himself clear in front of goal, only to be denied again by the impressive Tang Pui Chun.
Despite chances at both ends, the first half closed 0–0, with Malaysia frustrated and Hong Kong relieved.
Both teams emerged from the dressing rooms with renewed urgency, but it was Malaysia who finally found the breakthrough.
In the 65th minute, substitute Iman Danish struck the decisive blow, slotting home a composed finish that sent the Malaysian bench into celebration and gave the national side the lead they had been chasing all match.
Hong Kong attempted to respond with several counterattacks, but Malaysia’s defensive unit stood tall, calmly shutting down each attempt.
Entering the final quarter of the match, Malaysia continued pressing hard for a second goal. However, Tang Pui Chun’s outstanding reflexes prevented the scoreline from growing.
Despite the narrow margin, Malaysia controlled the match and never looked in serious danger of surrendering their lead.
The final whistle blew with Malaysia sealing a 1–0 win, maintaining their strong momentum in the qualification campaign.
