Thanh Hoa FC has requested not to participate in the AFC Champions League 2 season 2024/25 and sent a letter to the Vietnam Football Federation(VFF) and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC).
Dong A Thanh Hoa won the quota for ACL2 as a champion of Casper national cup 2023/24 and according to the regulations.
The reason for the decision of Thanh Hoa FC because they already have to play in V-League games, domestic cups, and the ASEAN Club Championship (Shopee Cup) 2024/25, so they are not ready to send a team to compete in another competition.
However, after Dong A Thanh Hoa’s withdrawal, Vietnam had only one club left to participate, Nam Dinh FC, because the proposal to replace Dong A Thanh Hoa with another club by the Vietnam Football Federation was not approved by the AFC.
