Malaysia head coach Peter Cklamovski dedicated his team’s emphatic 3-0 win over Laos in the AFC Asian Cup 2027 Qualifiers Round 3 Group F to the Malaysian people, praising his players’ discipline, unity, and unwavering commitment on a difficult pitch at the Laos National Stadium KM16.
Speaking at the post-match press conference, the Australian coach expressed immense pride in his squad’s performance and the spirit shown throughout the match.
“Tonight’s match was for the Malaysian people,” said Cklamovski. “We wanted to give Malaysians hope and inspiration through the way we played football tonight — to make them believe that we can achieve something special. I’m so proud of the players for doing that.”
Cklamovski also took a moment to thank the Ultras Malaya and the travelling supporters who made the trip to Vientiane, emphasizing their role in motivating the team on foreign soil.
“I want to say thank you to the ultras and the travelling supporters who turned up and supported us — they helped us big time,” he said. “They saw firsthand the passion the players have to play for their country, and I believe millions back home also saw that same passion, commitment, and discipline from our national team.”
Despite the convincing scoreline, Cklamovski noted that the conditions were challenging but praised his players for adapting quickly and controlling the game effectively.
“The pitch conditions were not easy — you could see the ball bobbling around — but actually, it was better than some Malaysian Super League pitches,” he joked. “The players adapted well, controlled the game, found good spaces, and could’ve scored even more goals. That’s a positive sign for us.”
The coach acknowledged that Malaysia needed patience early on but credited his players for maintaining tactical discipline and executing their game plan effectively in the second half.
“We respected Laos — they’re a tough opponent,” he explained. “In the first half, we had some chances and maybe could have gone into halftime with one or two goals. But it was important to stay patient and disciplined with our style. We knew our game would build, and credit to the players for staying focused and executing the plan. Eventually, the goals came as a reward for their hard work and team effort.”
