Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) reaffirmed their dominance in the Liga Super Malaysia 2025/26 with a commanding 5–0 victory over Terengganu FC at Stadium Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin, Gong Badak.
The reigning champions produced a clinical performance, showcasing their depth, composure, and attacking flair as they dismantled the home side to maintain their strong momentum in the title race.
JDT wasted no time asserting control. Brazilian striker Bergson da Silva opened the scoring in just the 5th minute, capitalizing on a defensive lapse to give the visitors a perfect start.
The Southern Tigers continued to press aggressively, pinning Terengganu deep in their own half and creating multiple chances through Arif Aiman and Romel Morales, whose pace and movement troubled the hosts’ defense.
Terengganu attempted to respond through Careca and Akhyar Rashid, but their efforts failed to trouble Syihan Hazmi, who remained composed between the posts for JDT.
In the 31st minute, Romel Morales doubled JDT’s advantage, firing home a neat finish inside the penalty area to make it 2–0, a lead they carried comfortably into halftime.
Head Coach Héctor Bidoglio made a decisive move in the 60th minute, introducing Jairo da Silva and Natxo Insa for Morales and Ager Aketxe — a change that immediately paid dividends.
Within four minutes of coming on, Jairo found the back of the net (64’), extending JDT’s lead to three. The Brazilian forward was far from done — he struck again in the 71st minute and completed his hat-trick in the 77th minute, sealing an emphatic 5–0 scoreline.
It was a statement performance from Jairo, who delivered a masterclass in finishing and movement to justify his growing importance in JDT’s attacking lineup.
Even with a commanding lead, JDT maintained their attacking tempo, controlling possession and preventing Terengganu from building any rhythm. Captain Harith Haiqal anchored the defense solidly, while Afiq Fazail and Natxo Insa dictated the midfield with precision passing and intelligent positioning.
Terengganu, led by captain Shahrul Nizam, struggled to contain the visitors’ attacking waves, with goalkeeper Syed Nasrulhaq left exposed multiple times despite several crucial saves.
With the victory, JDT continue to strengthen their grip on the top of the Liga Super standings, displaying the kind of form that has defined their dynasty in Malaysian football.
They will next host Melaka FC at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium on 21 November, while Terengganu FC face Negeri Sembilan FC away from home on 22 November as they look to bounce back from this heavy defeat.
