The long wait is finally over for Imigresen FC, as the newly promoted side celebrated their first-ever victory, edging Penang FC 1–0 in the Liga Super Malaysia 2025/26 at Stadium Bandaraya, Pulau Pinang.
The opening half saw both teams trading attacking opportunities, but neither managed to find the breakthrough despite a flurry of promising chances.
Penang’s Ivorian striker Tchetche Kipre came close to scoring in the 29th minute after latching onto a neat through ball from Dylan Wenzell-Halls, but his curling effort was brilliantly denied by visiting goalkeeper Zarif Irfan.
Eight minutes later, the Panthers came knocking again. Skipper Stefano Brundo initiated a swift move from midfield before Danilo Sipovac surged down the flank and delivered a pinpoint cross to Wenzell-Halls, whose header sailed narrowly over the bar.
Immigration FC nearly broke the deadlock through Eduardo Sosa in the 39th minute, but the Venezuelan’s shot rolled just wide of the post after slipping past Penang’s backline. The first half ended goalless after Sipovac’s late long-range attempt skimmed the side netting.
The tempo remained high after the interval, with both teams pushing aggressively for the opening goal.
The breakthrough finally came in the 59th minute, when Wilmar Jordan emerged as the hero for Immigration FC. The Colombian striker pounced on a rebound after Penang goalkeeper Ramadan Hamid failed to hold on to Fadzrul Danel’s stinging effort from the edge of the box — coolly slotting the loose ball into the net to make it 1–0.
Despite Penang’s late push to salvage a point, Immigration held firm with disciplined defending to seal a historic victory — their first in the 2025/26 Liga Super Malaysia season.
The win sees Imigresen FC leap five places up the standings, climbing from the bottom of the table to eighth, overtaking Sabah FC, Melaka FC, DPMM FC, Penang FC, and PDRM FC.
