Kedah Darul Aman FC is officially preparing for life in the A1 League for the 2025/26 season, following their exclusion from next season’s Liga Super Malaysia due to licensing issues.
The northern powerhouse was one of two clubs denied a National License by the First Instance Body (FIB) and the Malaysian Football League (MFL), effectively ending their participation in the nation’s top-tier competition for the upcoming campaign.
With the Sang Kenari squad now set to compete in the second-tier A1 League, the club confirmed in an official statement on Saturday that preparations are already underway to ensure the team remains competitive and relevant in the Malaysian football landscape.
“Kedah Darul Aman Football Club would like to inform that the club is currently in the process of joining and preparing the team to compete in the 2025/2026 A1 League season,” the statement read.
“This move is part of the club’s ongoing commitment to ensure the sustainability and competitiveness of KDA FC in the national football scene.”
The club’s proactive stance indicates a clear vision to bounce back stronger despite the setback. At present, the Amateur Football League (AFL), which governs the A1 League, has yet to announce the official list of participating teams or the total number of clubs for the upcoming season.
The coming months will be crucial for Kedah as they restructure and rebuild, aiming to restore the club’s stature and return to the top flight in the near future.
