Qatar national team, host and defending champions, advanced to the Quarter-Final after beating the Palestine national team, scoring 2-1 in the AFC Asian Cup 2023 Round of 16 at Al Bayt Stadium.
In the beginning game, Qatar has the home team advantage and plays attacking against Palestine.
But in the 37th minute, following Palestine’s attack and Oday Dabbagh dribbling the ball into the box and shooting into the second post, Palestine led 1-0.
And before the end of the first half, in the 45+6 minute, following a corner kick of Qatar and Akram Afif crossing to Hassan Al Hayes’s shot into the goal, Qatar equalizer 1-1.
In the remaining time of the first half, there was no additional score, ending the first half both tied 1-1.
In the second half, in the 48th minute, Qatar awarded a penalty following Mohammed Salih conceded a foul to Almoez Ali, and the referee decided to penalty; and Akram Afif converted the goal, Qatar led 2-1.
In the remaining time, Palestine almost got an equalizer goal but did not score, ending Qatar winning 2-1 and advancing to the Quarter-Final.
In the Quarter-Final, Qatar will wait to face the winner between Uzbekistan and Thailand.
