Malaysia’s rising star Wong Ling Ching has come to an end at the YONEX German Open 2026. Despite a valiant effort throughout the week, the young shuttler found the quarter-final hurdle just too high to clear against China’s formidable Han Qian Xi.
Entering the court with high hopes after her stunning Round of 16 upset over Thailand’s 3rd seed Pornpawee Chochuwong, Ling Ching faced a tactical masterclass from the Chinese representative.
In the opening set, Ling Ching managed to stay within striking distance, but Han Qian Xi’s precision at the net allowed her to pull away and take the lead 21-16. The second set saw the Malaysian struggle to find her rhythm as Han turned up the heat, eventually sealing the match with a dominant 21-13 scoreline.
While Ling Ching’s exit marks the end of Malaysia’s campaign in the Women’s Singles, her performance this week has been nothing short of inspiring.
