Germany national team qualified to round of 16 after beating Hungary national team scoring 2-0 in the UEFA EURO 2024 Group Stage, Group A at Stuttgart Stadium, Stuttgart.
Both teams started the game with balanced action, trading possession and probing each other’s defenses without significant breakthroughs. However, the match took a dramatic turn in the 22nd minute.
Jamal Musiala scored the opening goal for Germany in the 22nd minute, capitalizing on a well-constructed play. Musiala’s goal shifted the momentum in Germany’s favor, leading to a series of relentless attacks.
Hungary almost responded immediately when captain Dominik Szoboszlai’s free kick in the 25th minute was expertly saved by German goalkeeper Manuel Neuer. The save maintained Germany’s lead and showcased Neuer’s sharp reflexes.
Both teams continued to counterattack, with Germany coming close to doubling their lead several times. Despite their efforts, the score remained 1-0 in favor of Germany at the end of the first half.
Germany resumed their pursuit of a second goal with vigor in the second half, maintaining high pressure and creating numerous chances. Hungary, meanwhile, remained determined to equalize, pushing forward whenever possible.
Germany’s persistent attacks bore fruit in the 67th minute when captain Ilkay Gündogan scored from a pass by Maximilian Mittelstädt. Gündogan’s goal effectively put the game out of Hungary’s reach, giving Germany a 2-0 lead.
Stunned but undeterred, Hungary continued to fight back, creating several opportunities to breach the German defense. However, their efforts were thwarted by Germany’s solid backline and Neuer’s excellent goalkeeping.
Despite Hungary’s hard work and determination, the scoreline remained unchanged. Germany’s disciplined performance ensured a 2-0 victory, securing three crucial points.
