Persib Bandung have been hit with severe disciplinary sanctions by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) following crowd disturbances during their AFC Champions League Two 2025/26 knockout stage clash against Ratchaburi FC at Si Jalak Harupat Stadium on 18 February 2026.
According to the AFC Disciplinary and Ethics Committee decision, the Indonesian giants were found guilty of multiple breaches involving spectator misconduct, stadium security failures, and violations of public safety regulations during the heated encounter against the Thai side.
The sanctions include a USD 200,000 fine and a full stadium closure for Persib Bandung’s next two home matches in AFC club competitions.
The AFC statement detailed a series of incidents involving supporters, including the repeated use of fireworks and flares, throwing of objects such as plastic bottles and debris onto the field, as well as spectators invading the playing area after the match.
The governing body also noted abusive and insulting behaviour directed toward match officials, while security failures reportedly allowed supporters to block public passageways, staircases, and emergency routes during the match.
Under Articles 65.1 and 64.1 of the AFC Disciplinary and Ethics Code, Persib Bandung were deemed responsible for the actions of their supporters and for failing to maintain proper safety and security standards inside the stadium.
As part of the punishment, Persib are ordered to play two AFC home matches with sections of the stadium closed to spectators. However, the second match suspension has been suspended for a probationary period of two years. This means the additional closure will only be enforced if similar incidents occur again during the probation period.
The disciplinary outcome represents another strong message from the AFC regarding supporter behaviour and stadium safety in continental competitions, particularly as Asian football authorities continue tightening regulations surrounding crowd control and matchday security.
For Persib Bandung, the sanctions could become a significant setback ahead of future AFC campaigns, especially with the potential impact on home support atmosphere in upcoming continental fixtures.
