The First Instance Body (FIB) of the Malaysian Football League has released its latest update on the club licensing process for the 2025/26 cycle, confirming that several teams have successfully submitted their required documentation while others have been granted an extension.
As of the initial deadline on April 30, 2026, a total of seven clubs applying for both AFC and National Licenses have completed their submissions. These include Johor Darul Ta’zim FC, Selangor FC, Sabah FC, Terengganu FC, Penang FC, Kuching City FC, and Negeri Sembilan FC.
Meanwhile, several other clubs applying for National Licenses—namely Imigresen FC, Kuala Lumpur City FC, Melaka FC, PDRM FC, and Kelantan The Real Warriors FC—have requested additional time to complete their documentation in accordance with licensing criteria.
In the AFL Liga A1 category under the Extraordinary National License, four clubs—Armed Forces FC, Bunga Raya FC, Kelantan Red Warrior FC, and UM Damansara United FC—have submitted applications, with some also seeking extensions.
Given these circumstances, the FIB has officially extended the submission deadline to May 14, 2026, allowing clubs additional time to fulfill all licensing requirements.
Notably, DPMM FC, a Brunei-based invited team մասնակցating in the Malaysian league, is exempt from applying for a National License due to its special status.
Key Dates Confirmed
- May 14, 2026 – Final deadline for document submission
- May 20, 2026 – FIB decision meeting
