Spain’s national team has clinched the first spot as a finalist after beating France’s national team scoring 2-1 in the UEFA EURO 2024 semi-final at Munich Football Arena, Munich.
France struck first when Kylian Mbappe, no longer wearing a face mask after recovering from a broken nose, assisted Randal Kolo Muani to score with a header in the eighth minute. This was France’s first goal from open play in the tournament.
Spain quickly responded in the 21st minute when Lamine Yamal fired a powerful shot from outside the penalty area, becoming the youngest player to score in the tournament’s history at just 16 years old. Four minutes later, Spain took the lead after a period of sustained pressure. Dani Olmo controlled the ball smartly inside the penalty area and fired a half-volley past France’s Jules Kounde.
In the second half, France intensified their efforts and created several chances but were unable to find the equalizer. Spain’s defense held firm, securing their place in the final for the first time in 12 years.
Spain will now face the winner of the other semi-final match between England and the Netherlands, which is set to be played early tomorrow morning.
