Johor Darul Ta’Zim has officially announced the appointment of Xisco Muñoz, the experienced Spanish tactician, as the club’s new head coach for the upcoming 2025/26 season.
The 44-year-old arrives with a strong coaching pedigree, best known for leading Watford FC to Premier League promotion during the 2020/21 season. His appointment marks a bold new chapter for JDT as the Southern Tigers continue their pursuit of domestic dominance and continental glory.
Xisco’s managerial journey has taken him across Europe, with stints at: Dinamo Tbilisi (Georgia) – where he won the league title, Watford (England) – earning promotion to the English Premier League, SD Huesca (Spain), Anorthosis Famagusta (Cyprus), Sheffield Wednesday (England), and most recently, DAC Dunajská Streda (Slovakia).
His reputation for instilling attacking football, tactical discipline, and building resilient squads aligns perfectly with JDT’s long-term ambitions.
Muñoz steps in to replace Héctor Bidoglio, who parted ways with the club at the conclusion of the 2024/25 season. Bidoglio led JDT to multiple titles during his tenure, including Liga Super Malaysia, Piala Malaysia, and strong showings in regional tournaments.
JDT expressed their gratitude to Bidoglio for his contributions and now look to Xisco Muñoz to carry the torch forward.
