Kedah Darul Aman FC (KDA FC) has confirmed ongoing discussions with Portuguese football legend Ricardo Quaresma to join the club for the Liga Super Malaysia 2025/16 season — with all expenses potentially covered by an international sponsor.
According to official sources from KDA FC, preliminary talks have also taken place with potential sponsors who have shown serious interest in becoming the official backer for Quaresma should he agree to wear the iconic green and yellow jersey of Sang Kenari next season.
“This is a great honour for KDA FC. The fact that a player of Ricardo Quaresma’s stature, along with foreign sponsors, are considering our club seriously shows the level of respect and recognition we have earned. Negotiations have been ongoing since March 2025,” said a club representative.
Despite facing financial and administrative challenges, KDA FC is pushing forward with plans to build a more sustainable and competitive squad for the coming season. The club is also working hard to meet licensing requirements despite limited time and resources.
“There are many out there who believe KDA FC is a club on the brink. But as long as we still have space to fight, we will never give up. We are determined to save this club, and with your support, we believe we can lighten the heavy load we are carrying,” the statement continued.
The club has also issued a heartfelt invitation to fans to pack the Stadium Darul Aman on May 3, 2025, for a special All-Star Kedah vs All-Star Malaysia friendly match, featuring a special appearance by Ricardo Quaresma.
This showcase match is expected to be a major highlight for Malaysian football fans, offering a glimpse of what could be a historic signing for the Liga Super and an inspirational moment for KDA FC’s resurgence.
