The 2025 Michelin® Grand Prix of France ignited with electrifying drama as Marc Marquez (#93) fought tooth and nail to claim his sixth consecutive Sprint victory, regaining the MotoGP World Championship lead and reaffirming his unstoppable return to form. But this wasn’t just a win—it was a war, and Fabio Quartararo made him work every inch of it.
The Le Mans Bugatti Circuit became a theatre of raw speed, ruthless overtakes, and intense emotion as Saturday’s Sprint race delivered a French classic in front of a roaring home crowd. The dream duel between Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha) and Marquez (Ducati Lenovo Team) became reality, and it didn’t disappoint.
Despite grabbing the holeshot into Turn 2, Marquez ran wide, and polesitter Quartararo pounced, igniting the French faithful into frenzy as he surged into an early lead. Disaster struck for Francesco Bagnaia, crashing out on Lap 2 after a rapid launch from P6 to P4. His title hopes took a hit, while teammate Marco Bezzecchi’s off-track excursion further compounded Aprilia’s woes.
The tension exploded on Lap 6, as Marquez launched a daring move at Turn 3 but ran wide again. Quartararo’s cutback was surgical—yet temporary. Turn 8 belonged to Marquez, who made the move stick and denied the Frenchman any chance of retaliation.
From there, the brothers Marquez began their charge. Alex Marquez (BK8 Gresini Racing) stormed past Quartararo at the start of Lap 8, as rookie sensation Fermin Aldeguer followed close behind, hunting his maiden Sprint podium. What followed was MotoGP combat at its rawest: Aldeguer and Quartararo exchanged blows—literally—with shoulder-to-shoulder contact at Turns 6 and 7.
Behind the leaders, a spectacular battle unfolded between Pedro Acosta and Maverick Viñales. Acosta looked poised to take P5 but crashed out at Turn 13 on the final lap, denying himself a career-best Sprint finish.
Up front, Marc Marquez kept his cool and crossed the line in first, making history as the first rider to win six straight Sprints and reclaiming the championship lead by just two points over his brother Alex, who secured a stunning second. Aldeguer, meanwhile, celebrated a monumental first MotoGP Sprint podium in third.
