Esteban Solari, head coach of Johor Darul Ta’Zim, admitted that the AFC Champions League 2023/24 is a difficult season for JDT due to the difficult format and considers his team to be underdogs in the group. Still, he will struggle to get the points in this competition.
Johor Darul Ta’Zim has drawn in Group I along with the same 2 opponents in season 2022 such as Ulsan Hyundai(Korea Republic) and Kawasaki Frontale(Japan) and each one team from Thailand, BG Pathum United.
“Even though JDT faced a good campaign last season, we will face a different format this time, so for me, it will be difficult.” Solari, said after draw ceremony at AFC House, Kuala Lumpur today.
“I think the other teams in this group are favourites, and we will struggle to get points from them,”
“We know we will face a tight schedule at the end of the year, so we want to finish the league early.”
“If it happens, we can rotate players, and we have a lot of great players”
