Malaysia’s world champion mixed doubles pair Chen Tang Jie and Toh Ee Wei displayed remarkable mental resilience as they stormed back from a set down to book their place in the LI-NING China Masters 2025 final at Shenzhen Arena on Saturday.
Seeded third in the tournament, Tang Jie–Ee Wei produced a spirited performance to oust world No. 1 duo Feng Yan Zhe and Huang Dong Ping of China in a thrilling semi-final clash.
The Malaysians lost the opening game 22-24 but showed their trademark grit to recover in the next two, winning 21-19, 21-17 after a grueling one hour and 20 minutes of high-intensity badminton.
The victory was extra sweet as it not only secured their second consecutive final appearance, but also served as redemption after losing to the same Chinese pair at the 2025 Sudirman Cup earlier this year.
With this result, Tang Jie–Ee Wei have narrowed their head-to-head record against Feng–Huang to 3-6, signaling growing confidence against their biggest rivals.
Already making history as Malaysia’s first-ever mixed doubles world champions, Tang Jie–Ee Wei now stand just one step away from adding the prestigious China Masters crown to their resume – a title no Malaysian has ever won.
