Malaysia U16 national team take the first victory in the tournament after winning Cambodia U16 national team with a score of 3-0 in the AFF U16 Championship 2022 Group stage Group C at Maguwoharjo Stadium, Sleman.
Malaysia only needed six minutes to be in front after Muhammad Arami Wafiy Zakimi completed the opportunity after Muhammad Anjasmirza Saharudin’s initial attempt was deflected by the goalkeeper, Ron Chongmieng.
Having a useful tonic following the initial goal, the national players continued to double their efforts to add more goals but the dullness of the finishers of the attacking machine thwarted their efforts.
The continued dominance displayed by the national players in the second half saw Muhamad Farish Danish Mohd Asrul widen the lead in the 59th minute after he managed to pass the offside trap and break through Chongmieng’s control.
That was not enough, Farish added his second personal goal in the 78th minute as a result of a header during a corner kick situation to ensure a 3-0 victory for the national team.
The victory was able to boost the morale of the national players ahead of the second meeting against Myanmar which is scheduled to take place this Friday.
