Malaysia U16 national team defeated the first match after losing to Australia U16 national team scoring 0-2 in the ASEAN U16 Boys Championship 2024 Group Stage, Group C at Sriwedari Stadium, Surakarta.
Malaysia started the match aggressively, applying intense pressure on the Australian defense in the first 15 minutes. Malaysia’s early dominance, however, did not yield any goals.
Against the run of play, Australia managed to break the deadlock in injury time of the first half. Amlani Tatu scored in the 45th minute, giving the young Socceroos a vital lead going into the break.
In the second half, Malaysia’s efforts to equalize came through quick counter-attacks, but the Australian defense stood firm. The national team’s attempts were thwarted by Australia’s well-organized defense and goalkeeping.
Australia maintained control and created several scoring opportunities. Malaysia’s goalkeeper, Naqqiuddin, made crucial saves to keep his team in the game.
Australia secured their victory with a second goal in extra time. Wilson Williams scored 2-0 in favor of Australia to end the match.
