Tomislav Steinbruckner, head coach of Terengganu FC, believes his team is ready to play, dragged to extra time and penalty shoot-out in the Piala Malaysia 2023 Final against Johor Darul Ta’Zim on Firday.
However, he explained, if possible he wants to ensure the championship in the real time of the game.
“If the match has to be extended to extra time and penalty kicks, we are ready, after all we also put special emphasis on that during the training session.” Tomi said.
“However, if the players manage to finish the 90-minute competition and bring the trophy home to Terengganu, it is better because in the penalty shoot-out, all kinds of things can happen and it will definitely tire the players in extra time,”
In addition, He said that the experience of some of his players facing JDT in the FA Cup final last season as well as playing on the Asian stage in the AFC Cup this season has matured them.
“Yes, we are aware that the quality of JDT’s players is better than ours. They have almost the entire national team in addition to the team’s good record this season and the previous one.
“But in football various possibilities can happen especially in the final action, we hope to be able to surprise the squad especially all the players are free from any injury except the left defender, Alif Zakaria,”
