The Johor Young Meet Up by OMJ occurred today at the Edu City Sports Complex in Iskandar Puteri. The event was graced by His Royal Highness Tunku Ismail, The Regent of Johor, who participated in an interview during the “Meh Dengo Jap” session.
During the interview, His Royal Highness was asked about the recent incident involving Malaysian footballer Faisal Halim, who was attacked with acid. The incident had sparked numerous rumors, including allegations that His Royal Highness was the mastermind behind it.
“For me, Faisal Halim is a good person. I don’t know him personally, but let’s put it this way: what he suffered (the acid attack) is something we should all condemn. But why and how does this relate to me?”
“If I were the mastermind, I wouldn’t target Faisal Halim; he is just a footballer. I would focus on those who steal from the people, those who make life worse for others, and those responsible for constitutional crises. In my opinion, these are far more serious crimes.”
His Royal Highness went on to explain that he had no reason to harm Faisal Halim’s career, noting that JDT FC had defeated Selangor FC 2-0, 4-0, and 4-0 last year, with Faisal Halim in the lineup for all three games. He reiterated that Faisal Halim is not a threat to the club.
“He is a good player, he plays for the country, and he is friendly to people. But we do not know what is happening in his personal life or the motives behind the attack. I don’t understand why people still want to connect the incident to me.”
