Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin, president of the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM), sees the national squad as having ‘resource’ after being voted into a group considered not too difficult in this qualifier involving Kyrgyz Republic, Chinese Taipei and Oman.
In addition, FAM president look should not waste a ‘best opportunity’ to create history in their mission to qualify for the third round of the FIFA World Cup 2026 Asian Qualifiers.
“After the draw, I told the players that we are not in an easy team but the draw is bearable. So we can give a challenge compared to if we look at other groups.” DHMA said.
“If we prepare the team properly, we can go (to the next round) but all parties have to play a role. There is a difference between the previous qualification round where we played in a carnival style and with the issue of COVID-19.”
“This is a decisive moment because we will play at home and away. If you ask me, I am 55% confident, but with that confidence, we have to work as well.”
“All the players understand and we have to work hard. I don’t want to say that we have high confidence but this team can ‘eat’ Kyrgyzstan and Taiwan, if Oman, we are 50/50 at Bukit Jalil National Stadium because Oman is more or less Jordan,”
However, Hamidin admitted that the action against Kyrgyz Republic, Chinese Taipei, and Oman could be the best testing ground for the squad coached by Kim Pan Gon to touch the level of Asia.
