Badminton Association of Thailand, under Royal Patronage, officially launched the TOYOTA Thailand Open 2025, one of the premier international tournaments on the BWF World Tour calendar.

The press conference, held at Arnoma Grand Bangkok Hotel, marked the beginning of preparations for the high-profile HSBC BWF World Tour Super 500 event, scheduled to take place from May 13–18, 2025, at Nimibutr Stadium, National Stadium, Bangkok.

Sanctioned by the Badminton World Federation (BWF), this elite competition will feature world ranking points and offer a total prize purse of over USD 475,000 (approximately THB 16.2 million). The event will showcase top global shuttlers battling for the Royal Trophy graciously bestowed by His Majesty the King of Thailand.

Mr. Suwong Thienthong emphasized the significance of the event, saying:

“The TOYOTA Thailand Open 2025 is more than a world-class tournament – it is a platform to showcase Thailand’s exceptional hospitality, warmth, and organizational excellence. Athletes, coaches, and international delegations will not only compete at the highest level but also experience the unique charm and friendliness of Thai culture. This six-day competition will be a magnet for fans worldwide, both in the stadium and through live broadcasts.”

Khunying Patama noted that the tournament follows the successful Princess Sirivannavari Thailand Masters 2025 and comes on the heels of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, marking a period of transition in global badminton.

“Many badminton legends retired post-Olympics, prompting countries to refresh their line-ups – particularly in doubles. This tournament will be pivotal in determining world rankings and seedings for upcoming international events. TOYOTA Thailand Open, with its over four-decade-long legacy, has consistently served as a launchpad for future champions,” she said.

“This event blends sport and entertainment – or sportainment – using world-class production with lights, music, and engaging activities. Our aim is to position this tournament as a national soft power asset that boosts tourism, energizes the economy, and inspires a new generation of athletes.”

Mr. Natthatorn Srinives of Toyota Thailand reaffirmed the company’s long-term commitment to Thai sports:

“Toyota is proud to co-organize this globally significant Super 500 tournament. Supporting Thai athletes and elevating Thai sports have always been part of our mission. This competition offers local rising stars a rare opportunity to prove themselves on home soil before a global audience.”

He emphasized the tournament’s economic impact:

“This tournament will bring in top international players and attract badminton fans and tourists from around the world, directly stimulating Thailand’s tourism and service sectors.”

Mr. Nithi Wachirakovit, representing HSBC Thailand, underlined the bank’s global partnership with BWF:

“Since 2018, HSBC has proudly supported the BWF World Tour, with over 31 events in 20+ countries annually. As a title sponsor of the HSBC BWF World Tour Super 500, we are committed to promoting badminton as a global and accessible sport – especially in Thailand, where interest continues to rise.”

The TOYOTA Thailand Open 2025 will feature Thailand’s biggest badminton stars, including:

  • Men’s Singles: Kunlavut Vitidsarn, Kantaphon Wangcharoen
  • Women’s Singles: Ratchanok Intanon, Pornpawee Chochuwong, Supanida Katethong, Busanan Ongbamrungphan
  • Men’s Doubles: Dechapol Puavaranukroh & Kittinupong Kedren, Peeratchai Sukphun & Pakkapol Teeraratsakul
  • Women’s Doubles: Nanthakarn Aimsaard & Benyapa Aimsaard
  • Mixed Doubles: Dechapol Puavaranukroh & Sapsiree Taerattanachai

Thai fans will have the chance to witness these hometown heroes compete live and up close, generating national pride and excitement.
