Vietnam once again asserted its dominance in Southeast Asian football by defeating Indonesia to capture the ASEAN U23 Mandiri Cup 2025 title.
The Garuda squad fielded goalkeeper Muhammad Adriansyah and retained Kadek Arel as team captain, with rising star Jens Raven leading the attack. Meanwhile, Vietnam lined up with Tran Trung Kien guarding the posts and their dangerous striker Nguyen Dinh Bac spearheading the frontline.
Playing on home soil, Indonesia started aggressively, creating several threatening chances through Jens Raven. The energy from the home crowd fueled the Garuda’s early momentum, but Vietnam, the defending champions, remained composed and disciplined at the back.
The Golden Star Warriors broke the deadlock in the 36th minute with a close-range strike, silencing the home crowd and seizing control of the match.
Indonesia pushed hard to find an equalizer before the halftime whistle but were repeatedly denied by Vietnam’s resilient defense.
The second half saw a determined Indonesia launching wave after wave of attacks in search of a goal to keep their championship hopes alive. However, Vietnam’s solid backline held firm, frustrating the hosts’ efforts with disciplined defending and composure under pressure.
With the final whistle, Vietnam sealed a hard-fought 1-0 victory and were crowned champions of the ASEAN U23 Mandiri Cup for the third consecutive time
