Pathum Thani, Thailand — Malaysia’s premier women’s doubles pair Pearly Tan–M. Thinaah had to summon every ounce of composure and experience to stay on course for SEA Games glory after battling past Indonesia’s Rachel Allessya Rose–Febi Setianingrum in a demanding three-game semi-final today.
Despite entering the match as clear favourites, the world No. 2 Malaysians were made to work hard before sealing a 21-14, 19-21, 21-16 victory at the Thammasat University Gymnasium, Rangsit.
Pearly–Thinaah appeared in control after taking the opening game but were dragged into a decider when the Indonesians raised their intensity in the second.
Showing the resilience that has defined their rise on the world stage, the Malaysians responded strongly in the third game, reasserting their authority with sharper net play and greater control in the crucial moments.
The win extended Pearly–Thinaah’s flawless head-to-head record against the Indonesian duo to 3–0, underlining their consistency and mental strength when it matters most.
Standing between Pearly–Thinaah and the gold medal is another Indonesian challenge — Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma–Meilysa Trias Puspitasari — when the final takes place tomorrow.
