Terengganu FC’s scoring a clutch injury-time equaliser to secure a 1–1 draw against Kuching City in the Liga Super Malaysia 2025/26 at Stadium Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin, Gong Badak.
The visitors stunned the home crowd — numbering over 1,500 loyal Penyu supporters — when former TFC midfielder Petrus Shitembi delivered a bitter blow just seconds before halftime.
The Namibian playmaker punished Terengganu after Moses Atede picked him out with a perfectly weighted pass from midfield. Shitembi made no mistake, slotting past goalkeeper Suhaimi Husin to silence the stadium and hand Kuching City a 1–0 lead at the break.
TFC thought they had a lifeline two minutes into the second half when Akhyar Rashid found the net, but the celebration was cut short after the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) ruled the effort offside.
Moments later in the 50th minute, the home side were spared again — this time by the crossbar — after Danial Amier Norhisham unleashed a powerful long-range strike that rattled the frame of the goal.
With the match tilting heavily in Kuching City’s favour, all signs pointed to an away victory… until the late drama unfolded.
In stoppage time, Khalai’f Naskam delivered a precise ball into the danger zone, and super-sub Engku Shakir stepped up when it mattered most, firing home the equaliser to rescue a valuable point for Aidil Sharin Sahak’s men.
The final minutes, however, boiled over with tempers flaring. A heated altercation resulted in two red cards — TFC defender Safwan Mazlan was shown a straight red, while Kuching City’s Filemon Anyie received a second yellow after recheck with VAR.
The match ended 1–1, with both sides feeling the weight of missed opportunities — but for Terengganu, Engku Shakir’s late intervention ensured they walked away with pride intact.
