Malaysia’s rising motorcycle racer Hakim Danish Ramli sent an early warning to his Moto3 rivals ahead of his full-season debut next year, after securing his first-ever World Championship points at the Portuguese Grand Prix on Sunday.
The 18-year-old delivered a composed and determined performance at the Algarve International Circuit (Portimão), finishing 12th in the Moto3 race while substituting for Japan’s Ryusei Yamanaka in the FRINSA MT Helmets MSI team.
His strong showing not only earned him four world championship points but also underscored his readiness to compete at the sport’s highest level.
Hakim crossed the line 24.276 seconds behind race winner Maximo Quiles of the CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team, who clocked a total time of 34 minutes 05.18 seconds. Quiles’ teammate Angel Piqueras completed a one-two finish for the team, finishing 1.663 seconds adrift, while Taiyo Furusato (Honda Team Asia) rounded out the podium in third place.
The young Malaysian’s solid ride was marked by consistency, clever racecraft, and confidence, especially against more experienced riders on the grid. His performance earned praise from paddock observers and served as a promising preview of what’s to come in 2026, when he joins the championship as a full-time Moto3 rider.
Hakim is set to continue his substitute role at the Valencia Grand Prix next weekend — the final round of the 2025 Moto3 season — as Yamanaka continues his recovery from injury.
