Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) has moved to address concerns surrounding its financial reporting procedures by submitting an official explanation to the Malaysian Sports Commissioner’s Office following issues raised during the First FAM Extraordinary Congress 2026.
In a statement released on Monday, the national football governing body confirmed that a formal letter dated June 8, 2026, had been submitted to the Sports Commissioner to provide a comprehensive clarification regarding alleged confusion over the presentation of FAM’s financial statements and annual budget.
The matter emerged after several comments and claims circulated following the Extraordinary Congress held on June 4, creating a perception that FAM had failed to present its audited financial statements and annual budget to affiliated members in accordance with the association’s regulations and governance requirements.
FAM stressed that the clarification was necessary to address misunderstandings that had arisen from recent discussions and public statements.
According to the association, the explanation submitted to the Sports Commissioner was intended to provide a complete account of the financial presentation process and to ensure that all relevant facts were properly understood by the authorities.
The governing body emphasized that transparency and compliance remain key priorities in its administration of Malaysian football.
As Malaysia’s football governing body, FAM reiterated its respect for the role played by the Sports Commissioner’s Office in overseeing compliance with the Sports Development Act 1997.
The association acknowledged the importance of regulatory oversight in maintaining accountability and integrity within national sports organizations.
FAM also affirmed its commitment to cooperating fully with the relevant authorities on any matter requiring further explanation or clarification.
