An era has come to an end at Johor Darul Ta’zim as Brazilian winger Heberty Fernandes officially announced his departure from the Southern Tigers, bringing the curtain down on a memorable three-year spell filled with silverware, unforgettable moments, and a lasting legacy.
The experienced attacker took to social media to deliver an emotional farewell message, thanking everyone connected to the club after what he described as one of the most special chapters of his professional career.
Since arriving in Johor, Heberty established himself as one of the most influential foreign imports in Malaysian football, playing a key role in JDT’s domestic dominance and continental ambitions.
Reflecting on his departure, the Brazilian expressed gratitude for the opportunity to represent the country’s most successful club, highlighting the friendships, experiences, and achievements that defined his time in Southern Tigers colours.
“After three unforgettable years, the time has come for me to say goodbye to this very special club,” Heberty wrote.
“These years were filled with learning, challenges, achievements, and titles that will forever be part of my story.”
Among the many acknowledgements in his farewell message, Heberty reserved special appreciation for club owner and driving force behind JDT’s success, Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim.
The winger thanked the Johor Crown Prince for the trust, support, and opportunities given throughout his stay at the club.
“A special thank you to the Prince TMJ for the support, trust, kindness and all the moments we shared together. It was truly an honour to represent this club and wear this jersey.”
The relationship between TMJ and Heberty has been evident throughout the player’s time in Johor, with the Brazilian often regarded as one of the key figures in JDT’s attacking setup during several successful campaigns.
While titles and victories will always be associated with Heberty’s time at JDT, his impact extended beyond statistics.
Known for his creativity, technical quality, and ability to produce decisive moments in major matches, the former Brazil-based winger became a fan favourite among the Southern Tigers faithful.
His farewell message also included heartfelt thanks to teammates, coaches, staff members, club employees, and supporters who stood by him throughout his journey.
“More than the victories on the pitch, I will carry with me the friendships, respect, and memories that will never be forgotten.”
As JDT continues to evolve and refresh its squad ahead of a new season, Heberty’s departure marks the end of a significant chapter for both player and club.
