Alex Marquez (BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP) delivered a masterclass of speed, control, and precision in the Tissot Sprint at the British Grand Prix, crushing the competition to take a dominant victory – his first Sprint win since 2023 – and ending Marc Marquez’s six-race winning streak in the process.

In a dramatic race filled with fireworks, the younger Marquez outpaced his older brother and Championship leader Marc Marquez (Ducati Lenovo Team) by more than three seconds, sending a bold message to the grid as the title fight heats up.

“Marc is Happy” with Ducati Upgrades in Jerez Test

Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha) launched from pole and grabbed the holeshot, but the Ducati-powered pack was hot on his tail. Alex Marquez reclaimed second early despite a daring lunge from Marc, who exploded off the line from fourth. By the end of the first lap, Marc had muscled his way into the lead, passing both Alex and Quartararo with signature aggression.

Alex Marquez kept his cool and stayed glued to his brother’s rear wheel. A wide moment from Marc at Turn 3 was all the invitation Alex needed, seizing the lead and never looking back. With stunning consistency and zero mistakes, he began building a gap – and when it was time to pull the pin, he did just that, hammering home a statement win in 31:00.874 minutes.

While the Marquez brothers staged their own duel, the battle for third exploded into a five-way brawl. Fabio Di Giannantonio (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Team) emerged from the melee to claim his first podium since Austin, outdueling Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati), Marco Bezzecchi (Aprilia Racing), Johann Zarco (CASTROL Honda LCR), and Quartararo in one of the fiercest Sprint battles of the season.

Bezzecchi in particular was sensational, charging through the field from outside the top ten to finish fourth with blistering pace – setting himself up as a serious threat in Sunday’s full race.
