Alex Marquez produced a sensational ride to secure back-to-back home victories at the 2026 Spanish Grand Prix, mastering chaos and pressure at Circuito de Jerez – Angel Nieto.
In a race filled with early drama and championship implications, the Gresini Racing MotoGP star stood tallest—while reigning champion Marc Marquez suffered a devastating early crash.
Starting from pole, Marc Marquez looked in control after grabbing the holeshot, with Marco Bezzecchi and Alex Marquez close behind.
On Lap 2, at the iconic Dani Pedrosa Corner (Turn 6), Alex lunged up the inside of Marc to take the lead. The retaliation never came. Moments later, the rapid Turn 11 claimed its biggest victim; Marc Marquez lost the front end, tumbling through the gravel in a carbon-copy DNF of his 2025 Jerez nightmare.
With the reigning champion out, Alex Marquez wasted no time asserting dominance, having already overtaken Marc earlier in the lap. The Spaniard quickly built a gap at the front, showcasing exceptional pace and composure under pressure.
By mid-race, he had stretched his lead to over a second, controlling proceedings with maturity and precision.
Behind him, Bezzecchi—riding for Aprilia Racing—held firm in second place, fending off a strong challenge from Fabio Di Giannantonio of VR46 Racing Team.
The Italian secured another podium finish, continuing his impressive run of form and climbing further up the championship standings.
It was a difficult day for the Ducati factory camp. Francesco Bagnaia was forced to retire due to a technical issue midway through the race, compounding a disastrous outing for the team.
At the front, Alex Marquez remained untouchable, managing the gap expertly in the closing laps. He cruised to victory—waving to the jubilant home crowd as he crossed the line to seal a memorable win.
Bezzecchi’s second-place finish strengthens his grip on the championship lead, while Di Giannantonio’s podium moves him into third overall.
