Indonesian defender Pratama Arhan has officially parted ways with Suwon FC, following the club’s announcement that he is among the three foreign players not retained for the 2025 K-League 1 season.
In a statement released by the Suwon FC management, the club expressed gratitude for the contributions of the departing players:
“Three Suwon FC players, Lachlan Jackson, Pratama Arhan, and Eljon Sota, have left the team. The club will not forget the dedication of the players both on and off the field.”
This decision leaves Anderson Oliveira, the 26-year-old Brazilian winger, as the only foreign player retained by the club for the upcoming season. Anderson delivered a standout performance in 2024, scoring seven goals and providing 14 assists, cementing his place in the squad.
Additionally, Suwon FC faces another significant change, with winger Jeong Seung-won reportedly set to join FC Seoul, creating another gap in their attacking lineup.
Pratama Arhan’s stint with Suwon FC was a challenging one. The 21-year-old defender made only two substitute appearances during the season and was notably shown a red card in a match against Jeju United on May 26, 2024.
Despite limited opportunities on the field, Arhan’s presence in the K-League drew significant attention from Indonesian fans, as he was one of the few Indonesian players competing in a top-tier international league.
Following his departure, reports have emerged that several Liga 1 Indonesia clubs are keen on bringing Arhan back to his home country. Among the clubs expressing interest are Dewa United, Semen Padang, PSIS Semarang (Arhan’s former club, where he began his professional career)
Arhan’s potential return to Liga 1 could provide him with more regular playing time and an opportunity to regain form, especially as he remains a key figure in the Indonesian national team setup.
