Aaron Tai-Kang Khai Xing delivered a historic win for Malaysia, ending a six-year drought by capturing the boys’ doubles title at the World Junior Championships 2024 in Nanchang, China.
The top-seeded pair battled their way to a thrilling 21-18, 15-21, 21-18 victory against China’s Hu Ke Yuan-Lin Xiang Yi, securing Malaysia’s first junior world title since Goh Jin Wei won the girls’ singles crown in 2018.
This remarkable achievement brings pride to the nation as Aaron-Khai Xing demonstrated resilience and composure to overcome the Chinese duo in a hard-fought final.
On the girls’ side, Dania Sofea Zaidi-Low Zi Yu earned a commendable silver medal in the girls’ doubles after falling 21-17, 21-17 to Japan’s Ririna Hiramoto-Aya Tamaki. Despite the loss, their performance remains a significant accomplishment in their debut international tournament together.
